Sunflower Therapy Services
Before any intervention can take place, we have to assess your child’s communication skills and identify difficulties as well as discuss treatment and options.
Assessments are more expensive than regular treatment sessions as time is needed away from the face-to-face contact to analyse the assessment data, to formulate and type the report, to contact agencies if relevant and to plan treatment options. Further liaison with other parties/ agencies may be needed. Previous reports need to be read. Feedback to parents / caregivers and explanation of results adds to the assessment load.
Assessments cover a specific face-to-face contact time according to the age of your child and a typed assessment summary report. Some assessments will take more time than this and as such extensions of time will be billed based on the time taken (pro-rata hourly rate).
All assessments come with a written report (apart from Review Assessment if a report - not older than six months - is available)
Assessment Type | Length | Fee |
---|---|---|
Standard Assessment (School aged child) | 90 min | $350 | Early Age Assessment(Pre-School aged child or younger) | 60 min | $300 |
Short Assessment (School Aged child) | 60 min | $300 |
Review Assessment (if recent report is available) | 60 min | $180 |
Please get in touch with Janina to discuss which assessment type is appropriate for your child.
Children up to and including Kindergarten age have a limited concentration span and a therapy session of 30 mins is recommended. For children over 5 (Year 1) we can work on tasks a little longer and often have more tasks to cover. Generally, a 45 min session is recommended. We do, however, set durations of therapy sessions in accordance with the families’ needs and abilities as well as availability in the schedule.
The aim is to have appropriate tasks within the 30 or 45-minute session with a warm-up to check on progress of previous goals and a conclusion to recap main goals and home practice.
Length | Fee |
---|---|
30 min | $80 |
45 min | $120 |
60 min | $160 |
Within a session, the selection of activities and the use of worksheets and toys/games has been specifically selected for each client. This takes some time to prepare as does the planning for the individual’s therapy. This case work incurs research, record keeping, contact with other agencies such as teachers, and health care professionals. This time away from face-to-face therapy would, on average, be 20 minutes per session, and is included in the treatment fee.
Specific contact with caregivers and others outside the session time is usually not billed if short however for lengthier time (e.g., interview over 10 minutes, longer letters to doctors) a cost will be added. Specific attendance at case meetings and/or specific travel will be billed (pro-rata per hourly rate). Similarly, specific reports for agencies that are not part of normal caseload management will incur a charge.
Janina is not a registered provider with the NDIS. Therefore, she can see self-managed and plan-managed clients only.
Self-managed clients are billed with the same fees as private clients (see above).
Plan-managed clients are billed an extra nominal fee for added administrative effort (collaboration with the plan-manager).
This equates to the following:
Length | Fee |
---|---|
30 min | $85 |
45 min | $125 |
60 min | $170 |
NDIS reports or collaborations with other agencies are billed at the pro-rata hourly fee.
